The Impact of Trauma

Trauma can have a profound effect on our sense of self, often leading to a diminished sense of self-esteem and self-worth. When we experience difficult or overwhelming events, we may begin to question our value or feel undeserving of love, success, or happiness. This inner struggle can ripple into how we relate to others, affecting our ability to trust, form healthy relationships, or express vulnerability.

Additionally, trauma doesn’t just impact our emotional well-being-it can manifest physically. Chronic stress from unresolved trauma can contribute to a range of health issues, including sleep disturbances, fatigue, headaches, or even more serious conditions like anxiety or depression. The body holds onto trauma in ways that can affect our overall well-being.

Triggers and flashbacks are also common consequences of trauma, often appearing unexpectedly and bringing us back to the painful moment of the event. These overwhelming memories or sensations can make us feel stuck in the past, leaving us feeling helpless or disconnected from the present moment.

Healing from trauma involves understanding its impact on our lives, allowing ourselves to feel safe again, and gently working through the memories and emotions. With the right support, you can rebuild your sense of self-worth, improve your relationships, and regain your physical and emotional health.

Unprocessed trauma, especially from childhood, can influence how we respond to the world as adults- sometimes causing us to feel stuck or trapped in repeating patterns that no longer serve us. These patterns can show up in relationships, work, and even in how we see ourselves.
